A rather quiet but essential
member of the ops team. Kaplan's area of expertise is computers and
electronics. He is in charge of shutting down the Red Queen, however,
after James P. Shade and three other team members are killed, Kaplan steps
into the role of team leader. Packing only a revolver, he leads the
others through the perils of the Hive. At one point he gets separated
from the group when the pipe he was climbing on crashes to the floor in
a zombie filled room. However, he manages to escape and later mets
up with the group after destroying the Red Queen. During their escape,
he drives the train until the licker tears him from the moving train.
